To Whom it May Concern,

I am delighted to support George’s application for the National Youth Film Academy. During his time with us, George demonstrated himself to be a reliable, determined, and resilient student, who had a tenacity and drive that is rarely seen. He absolutely loves film, and this comes across in every piece of work he completed with us. I am encouraged that this passion has continued to flourish at university where he continues to create insightful short films. An example is his ‘Freshers Shrink’ a thought-provoking film about the challenges of starting university.
His technical skills far excelled what would be expected of a college student; his editing and other aspects of media production were regularly highlighted during external moderation for being exemplar of best practice. George sets incredibly high standards for himself and has the patience, commitment, and attention to detail in order to create quality pieces of work.
George would thrive given the opportunity to work on a challenging project with likeminded people, where he can express his technical qualities and showcase his filmmaking skills. George is full of ideas and creative input, always willing to share his ideas and listen to others during the planning stages of the creative process. His scriptwriting ability is outstanding, and he has an impressive portfolio of ideas. Coupled with Georges technical ability his social skills blossomed. He is an effective communicator with all stakeholders including his peers, tutors, and visitors to the college. In his role as Student Ambassador George worked effectively with his peers to organise and deliver fundraising events as well as explain to visitors what his course entailed. Similarly, when working on group projects George is reliable, able to think on his feet and be adaptable to solve any problems that the group may face. He is considerate of others feelings and opinions and often encourages other students to be involved. George made really positive friendship groups with likeminded students who are striving for excellence in their field. He was well liked across the whole student body and is renowned for his Halloween costumes!
George has taken part in several business briefs and was part of the DFE Pilot for Industry Placements, to say George excelled in this would be an understatement, he took each brief given and ran with it creating unique films, delighting his placement provider; A community TV & news channel, so much so he was commissioned independently and paid for his work. In addition to this George received high praise from the project managers of the EDU4TEX project, who were impressed with how George edited and cut hours with of raw footage into an engaging showreel that encapsulated the entire project in a few minutes, under a demanding timescale. George has ‘IT’, that magic spark where you just know he will achieve great things, given the opportunity, I have no doubt that he will demonstrate this to you.

Kind regards,
A. Shufflebottom
